In May, the tourist season is in full swing in Cairo and the weather is already extremely warm.
The average temperature reaches a high of 32°C (that's about 90°F) during the day and at night only dips to a low of around 18°C (about 64°F).
You can expect no rain during this month and there are around 12 hours of average daily sunshine.
Cairo is steeped in history and there are some fantastic sites to see.
Just outside the city is the Great Pyramid of Giza, one of the last intact wonders of the ancient world.
Built as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu, the pyramid took 20 years to build and was completed in 2560BC.
Though exact methods of construction have not been agreed upon by historians and archaeologists, it is thought that a staggering 800 tonnes of stone would have been installed every single day!
Nearby is located the Great Sphinx, dating from 2500 BC. With the body of a lion and the head of a human, this statue is one of the largest in the world.
Both the Great Pyramid and the Great Sphinx form part of the Giza Necropolis, a collection of several pyramids and an ancient worker's village located about 15 miles (25km) to the west of Cairo.
