This month experiences a bit of a Goldilocks effect it's never too hot, and it's never too cold. With an average temperature of 22°C for the month, many travellers believe this month is the optimal time for a visit, and noticeably so, as crowds begin to swell in the city as spring swings into summer.

Expect temperatures to rise from lows of 20°C at the beginning of the month, to highs of 25°C near the end of the month. None of this, however, falls outside the Goldilocks zone of perfect weather.

There will be minimal rainfall in the city during the month, with an ample amount of sunshine. It rains, on average, one day out of the month, bringing 7mm of precipitation during this single shower.

Average Sunshine Hours

13 hours of daily sunshine make for long days of exploration and fun. (Be sure to pack your sun-cream!) And just as the occurrence of rain drops to near inexistence, expect for winds to be calm and mild.

Average Sea Temperature

If you head to the beach, be sure to pack a towel and bathing suit; ocean temperatures rise to 21°C, which will be considered by most to be comfortable for swimming. With numerous beaches to explore, you're sure to find a pleasant spot to spend a day in the sand.

Madrid, the nation's capital, has the same average temperature for the month (22°C), but with greater variation between high and low temperatures, and more unpredictable weather patterns in general, the landlocked centre can't guarantee the same ideal weather experience as the country's oldest port. Nightly temperatures at the capital can drop to 13°C this month, as compared to 20°C on the coast.
