What's the Weather like in Cadiz in April
Rainfall
Here in Cadiz, the idiom holds true: April showers bring May flowers. Fortunately for fair weather fans, while springtime rains do peak during this month, with 45mm of rainfall spread across 6 days, these spare wet days remain relatively mild as compared with much of the world.
Average Sea Temperature
And while we're on the subject of idioms if you're the type who believes 'the more things change, the more things stay the same', you'll be correct in at least one regard this month; the average ocean temperature remains in line with March at 17°C. Sadly, it's still not a fantastic temperature for swimming. You'll likely want to plan seaside activities that keep you out of the water.
Average Sunshine Hours
There is nonetheless plenty of upside this month. Compare the conditions with similar tourist destinations, e.g. Crete, the largest of the Greek islands. While visitors in Greece are only enjoying an average of 6 hours of daily sunshine, Spain's oldest port city basks in a luxurious 10 hours of sun per day.
Temperature
The further progression of spring means a modest rise in temperatures this month, as the daily average reaches 17°C. Highs and lows remain moderate at a respective 20°C/14°C. The warm midday sun will be hot enough to cause a sweat, while night temperatures dip into sweater weather.
If you have a little time to venture outside the city, check out Tarifa, Spain's southernmost city. Located on the Strait of Gibraltar, this city of Moorish influence is separated from Africa by less than 20 miles of ocean water.
Due to Tarifa's location on the strait, expect strong winds. It's become a popular destination for wind surfers. For the adventurous traveller, there are many companies in town who offer lessons at all levels, from beginner to expert, though most visitors will probably feel plenty adventurous simply watching by the wayside. Buses run between the cities six times daily.
