Things to Do in Cabo Roig in May
The Caves at Canelobre
The Caves at Canelobre are located 17 miles from Alicante and are a day trip out from Cabo Roig. The caves have been formed over 7 million years by the limestone rock being eroded by water. The unique and strange shapes have been described as looking like a gothic cathedral, the caves have even had concerts held here before because of the fantastic acoustics. The current entrance to the cave used by visitors was created as a refuge for troops during the Spanish Civil War, it was also used to repair and store aircraft. The name Canelobre is Spanish for candelabra as this what the cave formations resemble. The caves are reached by an artificial tunnel which leads to a balcony overlooking a viewing gallery. Each guided tour lasts 45 minutes and this is a highly recommended outing.
Cabo Roig Marina
Cabo Roig Marina is an attractive and very popular marina on the Costa Blanca. The marina has mooring spaces for over 200 boats, a restaurant and other superb facilities. A 16th century watchtower is the centrepiece of the marina and part of The CR Restaurant. A fantastic spot for taking photos and taking an evening stroll.
