October is a pretty warm month considering the location and the time of the year, with high temperatures of 15C and with low temperatures of about 8C. It may feel colder than this, though, thanks to the 19 days of rain this city gets at this time of year.

If you really want to stay somewhere cheap, try out theYouth Hostel Van Gogh (Chab) as long as you don't mind being surrounded by potentially noisy tourists.

Hotel La Potiniere, located some 30 minutes from the city is far more quiet, cozy and still very affordable.

Treat yourself to a lovely meal at one of the charming little restaurants in the streets aroundPlace Stephanie a 4-star, prestigious hotel. These places are recommended by the much toutedRoutard guide.

Scoffed to many Belgian chocolate and waffles washed down with too much beer? Sign up for the Brussels Marathon and Half Marathon on October 6th, in 2013 you can register now. This event will raise much-needed funds for various charitable organisations, and the full marathon is 42km (piece of cake), the half marathon is 21km (a walk in the park), while the mini marathon is 3km (a joke) and the kids' run is 1km (note the word 'kids'), so anyone can take part - no excuses.
