What's the Weather like in Bruges in March

With March comes the beginning of Spring and also a small warming trend for the city of Bruges. However, temperatures are still cold enough to require bringing a heavy coat, long trousers and boots. Additionally, with numerous rain showers and thunderstorms also expected, it is a good idea to bring a raincoat and umbrella as well.

Temperature

Temperatures both in the afternoon and early morning hours will take a jump from the previous months during this time of the year. While it is still cold, the chance of experiencing below freezing temperatures is starting to diminish until winter rolls around again in November. The average daily temperature during the month is a cool 6°C (43°F). The average afternoon high has also climbed a few degrees and now stands at 9°C (48°F). However, with a 40% chance of a windy day, the brisk conditions can make it feel much colder with the wind chill. Overnight lows are a little warmer as well with the average temperature falling to 3°C (37°F). Despite the fact that temperatures are climbing, there is still a 20% chance of seeing some snow during the month. As a result, visitors need to consult an extended forecast before leaving home.

Rainfall

This time of the year is slightly less wet than the two previous months. Throughout the month, an average of 50mm of precipitation can be expected. This precipitation can come in the form of either snow or rain, but the best chance of seeing frozen precipitation is in the early part of the month. Overall, there are a total of 6 days that experience measurable precipitation and the average chance of rain stands at 60%.

Average Sunshine Hours

In addition to higher temperatures, the region also experiences slightly more sun during this time of the year. The area will see an average of 4 hours of sunshine each day. Overall, there is a 20% chance of seeing a completely sunny day.

Average Sea Temperature

Sea surface temperatures remain too cold to enjoy despite the fact that it is now spring. Water temperatures are a cool 7°C (45°F) for the month. However, they will begin to climb a little starting in April.
