What's the Weather like in Bruges in February

The weather in February remains remarkably similar to the conditions that were felt in January. In fact, all three winter months experience temperatures and precipitation that are steady from one month to the next. Visitors to Bruges during this time of the year will need to consult an extended forecast before leaving home to see just how cold it will get during their holiday and to make sure they are packed correctly.

Rainfall

Visitors will want to pack raingear for the duration of their trip, as rainfall amounts remain high. The month will receive an average of 57mm of precipitation spread over a period of just 5 days. As a result, precipitation can be quite heavy over a short amount of time. Additionally, some of the precipitation will be frozen, as temperatures will hover near the freezing mark.

Temperature

Overnight lows are the coldest temperatures with averages of just 1°C (34°F). Even though the average overnight low temperature is just above freezing, some freezing nights can be expected especially after the passage of a cold front. Afternoon highs are just a hair's breadth warmer than the previous month and visitors will need to bring plenty of cold weather gear. Daily afternoon highs will only climb to an average of 7°C (45°F). The average daily temperature is still a cold 4°C (39°F).

Average Sunshine Hours

There is a touch more sunshine during this month than the previous one. Visitors can expect to see an average of 3 hours of sunshine each day while on holiday. If a visitor wants more sun than that, they may want to compare this region to others in Belgium.

Average Sea Temperature

Additionally, water temperatures remain too cold for anyone to enjoy the nearby water or any beaches throughout the country. Water temperatures during this time of the year are still a very cold 7°C (45°F). Swimming in water this cold will result in hypothermia very quickly.
