What's The Weather Like In Borneo In October
Borneo is one of the world's most biodiverse places, home to unique fauna and flora, the most notable of which is the orangutan. This alone is enough to make it a recommended destination, but when you add the island's beaches, cultures and opportunities for outdoor adventurers, you have a destination that is unparalleled by any other on earth. The weather, too, is exceptional.
October marks the start of the monsoon season in Borneo, a time of year featuring plenty of rainfall but also high temperatures and still a surprisingly high number of daily sunshine hours.
Rain
The total amount of rainfall this month is 230mm, which is actually not particularly high, especially when compared with the numbers seen in December and January. The likelihood that it rains on any given day is about 76% in October, with little variation throughout the month. This is quite high. You are most likely to experience thunderstorms when visiting Borneo this time of yearhey occur 69% of the time when it rains.
Sunshine Hours
Even though the chance of rainfall might be 76% every day, there are still 8 hours of sunshine to be enjoyed on average each day, too. This indicates that rain showers are generally short-natured, clearing up quickly and making way for more sunrays.
Temperature
The monsoon season is the "coolest" time of year in Borneo. Temperatures are at their lowest, which doesn't mean, however, that it is cold. The island is located at the equator, which results in year-round high temperatures. October, as well as the following four months, might be the coolest of the year, the average temperature does remain at a high 27°C. During the day, the mercury climbs to an average high of 31°C, while at night, it drops to an average low of 23°C.
