What's The Weather Like In Borneo In March

Located almost right on the equator in Southeast Asia, Borneo is one of the world's largest islands. It is covered with dense jungle, dotted with mountains, lined with beaches and surrounded by reefs. There is a plethora of activities to do and sights to see, all-year round, as the tropical climate is fairly stable throughout the year. The only significant variable in Borneo's weather is rainfallhere is a monsoon season and a dry season.

March is the transitional month between the monsoon and the dry season and has the weather to match that phase. It is still wet, but it's drying up. It is also getting hotter and there is a slight increase in daily sunshine.

Rain

The total amount of rainfall this month is 188mm, much less than the 278mm in February. March is actually one of the driest months of the entire year. Only April, May and July are drier. When in Balikpapan, head over to Manggar Segarasari Beach, also known simply as Manggar Beach. This great beach features clear water and soft, golden sand. The water is shallow and the waves small, making it ideal for swimming and for children. The seashore is lined with food and beverage vendors, its many facilities making it arguably the best serviced beach in Balikpapan.

Rempah Rempah Restaurant

Rempah Rempah Restaurant in Pontianak serves only food that is prepared according to traditional family recipes. Its dishes are authentically Indonesian, their ingredients including many different spices. Things To Do In Borneo In March

Kutai National Park

If you visit East Kalimantan, make sure that you pay a visit to the Kutai National Park, which is home to a vast amount of wildlife in its natural habitat. This is where you can spot orangutans in the wild, as well as many other rare animals. In terms of plant life, the park's forest orchids are a major highlight.

Equatorial Obelisk

If you're near Pontianak, the capital of West Kalimantan and known as "Equator City", in March, make sure not to miss the Equatorial Obelisk (also known as the Equator Monument and Tugu Khatulistiwa), especially on the 20th, the spring equinox, as you may witness a shadow-less sun. This phenomenon can be spotted again, on September 20th, the autumn equinox. This impressive monument is nearly 100 years old and can be visited daily, for free.
