What's the weather like in Boracay in January

January is a very popular time to visit the island of Boracay thanks to somewhat drier weather and the fact that the air temperature remains warm despite the time of the year. While much of the rest of the world is mired in snow and ice during the month, this region is seeing very pleasant temperatures that allow visitors to take advantage of all the island has to offer.

The average daily temperature for the month is a pleasant 26°C (78°F). The average afternoon high temperature is 28°C (82°F). Even the average overnight temperatures are warm enough that visitors can leave the jackets at home. Temperatures first thing in the morning will typically bottom out at 23°C (73°F).

Sea Temperature

Even the seawaters remain warm enough for visitors to enjoy going for a swim or participating in one of the various watersports available on the island. Sea surface temperatures this time of the year average a pleasant 27°C (81°F).

Additionally, there is still plenty of sun to take advantage of with visitors able to enjoy an average of 6 hours of sunshine per day.

Rainfall

The beginning of the year marks one of the drier times of the year for the region. On average, the region receives approximately 102mm of rain during the month. This rain is spread over an average of 14 days. However, this means that there is still half the month where visitors can enjoy all of the wonderful outdoor activities of the island.

Storms

Because typhoon season is still several months away, there is no need to worry about storms brewing and visitors can relax knowing that the rain that occurs this time of the year is from typical tropical showers and thunderstorms and will generally be short lived in nature and they can get back to their vacation and activities.

Boracay Beaches in January

One of the best known beaches on the island is White Beach This stretch of white sand is 4 kilometers long and up to 100 meters wide. With water temperatures of 27°C (81°F), seas are plenty warm enough to enjoy a lazy swim or snorkeling. The gentle slope of the shore means that visitors can wade out into the water for some distance. There are also activities such as skimboarding, banana boat rides glass bottom boats that are popular with visitors.

Bars and Restaurants

Consistently ranked as the top restaurant on the island, visitors will not want to miss Los Indios Bravos Boracay.  This gastropub offers some of the best food on the island as well as all-Filipino handcrafted beers. The menu includes such dishes as beef and mushroom pie, ultra crispy chicken wings, grilled cheese, and pizza.

Another highly rated restaurant in the region is The Sunny Side Café.  The café features an all-day breakfast and serves up such dishes as bacon and mango grilled cheese sandwich, espresso-caramel pancakes and an avocado-bacon smash.

The action on the island doesn't stop when the sun goes down and one of the more popular late night activities is the Boracay PubCrawl. Sign up to join this tour of sorts where 50-150 people gather each night to roam around the city from bar to bar having the time of their lives. 

Things to do in Boracay in January

Visitors with an adventurous spirit will want to take advantage of the warm January weather and visit Ariel's Point. Be sure to stay for at least one full day as the area offers a multitude of outdoor activities including cliff diving, kayaking and snorkeling. Visitors will arrive in a traditional Filipino outrigger boat and can also take advantage of a lunch buffet and an open bar. Of course, visitors can also relax and sunbathe along the beaches or take a nap in a hammock.
