Boa Vista and the Hotel Riu Karamboa
Review by: Naomi
Weather
We stayed for two weeks and the first week was absolutely heavenly: hot sunshine with a light breeze to cool us down.
The second week we were unfortunate enough to experience the worst tropical storm the island has seen for 30 years. This resulted in the island and parts of the hotel flooding. The staff coped wonderfully by brushing away the copious amounts of water, attempting to keep the water out of the rooms and to keep food etc on schedule.
The hotel did everything they could to make our stay 'normal' throughout the poor weather and they even had to ship staff in by boat after the main bridge on the island was washed away.Holiday
Absolutely amazing. I highly recommend staying on this island in the next five years because it is relatively untouched by tourism and the best place to be to completely get away from the stresses of life.
The island will undoubtedly become much more popular and built up in the coming years and I truly hope this doesn't ruin the island or locals who cannot do enough to try and make your holiday the best possible experience ever.Recommend Boa Vista to others?

Perfect vacation in Boa Vista
Review by: Maria Skiddi
Weather
Marvelous! Perfect for me: I have asthma and I could breathe! The wind made it easy living. The most beautiful beaches
Holiday
Loved it, and have already booked another trip there in March 2013!
The most kind people in Cabo Verde. Beautiful and friendly!Recommend Boa Vista to others?

Riu Touareg
Review by: Pam
Weather
Weather was very changeable, windy most days. I didn't mind the wind, because it certainly cooled you down when the sun was out.
Holiday
We stayed at the Riu Touareg: this is much the same as the Riu Karamboa, however the Touareg had an adults only section, that we were in. This was a God send. I would definitely go back, but only to the 'Adults only'. The most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Fantastic.

Riu Karamboa
Review by: Peter Ridgley
Weather
Very hot and quite humid especially in the mornings before the breeze started. We went on the 16th September which is the wet season, though we saw only a half hour on one day of real rain. The season may have accounted for the humidity
Holiday
Very enjoyable, but slightly spoilt by mosquitos and flies of which there were many of.
Good place to pratice the "Australian Wave", but the flies were a nuisance when eating in the outdoor parts of the resaraunts, and when drinking in the bars.
The Riu Karamboa hotel were staff were excellent and tried very hard to please. The hotel is very good , but not many of the public areas have A/C, as the hotel is very open plan. Three of the four restaraunts do have AC, and if you want to try one of the theme ones, book it is soon as you arrive, as places are limited.
The Thomson Air flight was not the highlight of the trip - the in flight purchased meals were poor, and there was liitle chance to purchase drinks. Seating space was appallingRecommend Boa Vista to others?

My Holiday in Boa Vista with Thompsons
Review by: Janice Risdon-Stapley
Weather
The weather was really hot, but must be prepared for the wind, I wasn't.
Very warm at night so only take very thin items of clothes.
Also no need for high heels ladies as there was quite a lot of walking to and from different restaurants and it was much cooler in flip-flops (something I thought I would never say)!Holiday
The holiday was the best I have ever had.
The hotel was fantastic, the food was great, great, great and the entertainment was out of this world.
We used the spa every morning before we ventured into the sun, which was good as the spa got our skin ready for the heat.
The swim up bar was really good and the cocktails fab.
Plenty of sunbeds around the large pool and the beach was fantastic - but be prepared for the tide as the current is pretty strong. The lifeguards change the colour of the flag frequently.Recommend Boa Vista to others?
