When it comes to local Cape Verdean cuisine, it doesn't get much better than the food served up at Sodade din ha Terra. This restaurant is beautifully decorated and boasts top quality freshly-prepared dishes which are sure to please. Popular amongst locals and visitors alike, Sodade din ha Terra is a must-visit if you pass by Rabil.

Satisfy your craving for Italian food by spending an evening at Ca'Luisa. This traditional Italian restaurant is often fully-booked, so making a reservation in advance is highly recommended. Here you'll find a large menu full of all your favourite Italian dishes, including pizzas, calzones, pastas and salads, as well as plenty of fish- and meat-based dishes.

If you're searching for evening entertainment, Esplanada Municipal Silves is the place to go. Found in the main square of Sal Rei, this bar is a lively place to visit during the day, when you can enjoy a cold drink and watch the world go by from the outside terrace. Come sunset the bar takes on a different scene, with live music and dancing provided by local groups and artists.

Things to do

Thanks to the island's location, Boa Vista is one of the few places in the region where you can see certain African and tropical birds. If you sign up for a bird watching excursion, you'll have the chance to see some of the species which regularly breed on the island, such as the Egyptian vulture, white-faced storm-petrel and the red-billed tropicbird. Although sightings are never guaranteed, they're very likely so don't forget your camera. 

Foodies won't want to miss the chance to sign up for cooking lessons at the Cachupa Academy. Several tour companies offer trips to this cooking school where you'll be tutored by a local Cape Verdean and learn how to make one of the most loved dishes the island is known for cachupa.
