August remains extremely warm in Bled, so it is a busy time of year for tourism.

Daytime temperatures reach a very warm high of 26°C and dip no lower than 13°C in the evenings. This means that you will be able to sally forth with light clothing such as t-shirts and shorts during the day.

Even if it feels cooler in the hills of the Alps, you are still going to need protection from the sun. Always wear sunscreen with a high SPF and drink plenty of water throughout the day.

At this time of year accommodation will be more expensive and harder to get hold of.

The resort may be busy at this time of year, but it is very easy to get away from it all in an area of such outstanding natural beauty.

The hills around Bled are perfect for hiking or cycling through and nature lovers will especially enjoy Triglav National Park. Here you can explore the peaks and valleys of this protected area, as well as the many glacial lakes and waterfalls.

Seasoned climbers can head to Mount Triglav, Slovenia's highest mountain, but must always be careful not to climb higher than their ability or fitness allows.

Back on the ground, Lake Bled and Bled Castle make for a perfect day out. You can visit the 1000 year old castle and museum, followed by a boat trip around the beautiful lake.

The gothic style castle also boasts an extensive wine cellar, so any wine connoisseurs out there can attend one of the regular tasting sessions.
