What's the weather like in Bintan in October
October is hot and humid in Bintan, one of the Riau islands in Indonesia, with humidity at around 82%. This is the start of the wet northeast monsoon season in this part of the world, a time that is characterised by occasional typhoons and wet weather conditions. However, this is a tropical island and this means that temperatures are always high and sunshine is pretty much guaranteed, no matter how wet it might be. Rain showers tend to be short-natured, generally speaking.
Compared with the relatively dry previous month of September, October has become very wet. The total amount of precipitation accumulates to 218mm, making it the third wettest month of the whole year. Only November and December are wetter. The chance that you will experience some form of precipitation increases dramatically in the course of September. The beginning of the month is by far the driest time, with a chance of 26%. At the end, that chance has increased to 54%, indicating that the wet part of the year has unquestionably arrived.
Thunder
Thunderstorms are the most common type of precipitation, occurring on 61% of the days with precipitation. Moderate rain and light rain happen as well, respectively on 28% and 10% of those days.
Sunshine Hours
As rainfall increases this significantly, cloud cover should too. And indeed, an increase in cloud cover from 34% to 44% is observed in the course of the month. This, in its turn, results in a bit less sunshine each day. That being said; every October day still has 8 hours of sunshine on average.
Sea Temperature
Although the sea temperature is very, very high, averaging 29°C, the high amount of rainfall makes that diving conditions aren't ideal. Visibility is poor and occasional strong winds make the seas wilder.
Temperature
In terms of temperature, however, October is as great a month as any other. The average temperature is 27°C. In the afternoon, the mercury climbs to an average high of 30°C, while at night, it drops to a still warm average low of 24°C. This is a hot and humid monthake sure to get air-conditioning in your room if you're visiting Bintan this time of year.

Things to do in Bintan in October
October, although quite a wet month with 218mm precipitation in total, is still enjoyably sunny (8 hours of sunshine per day) and warm (27°C on average). It is a nice time to be outdoors, particularly the beginning of the month, as long as you're dressed appropriately. Once you're geared up properly you might like to try venturing out to Gunung Bintan. Gunung, in Indonesian, literally means mountain and this one is 340 metres (1,115 feet) high.
The adventurous trek up the mountain takes most people between two and four hours, so make a day of it and pack a lunch. Make sure you take your camera for this one because this is no run of the mill hike. The view from the peak of Gunung Bintan is spectacular, but that's only part of the beauty of this outing. The ascent is full of beautiful plants and animals seldom seen in other parts of the word, not to mention a breathtaking waterfall. You'll witness giant trees on your way up the mountain that get 40 metres (130 feet) tall and more.
If you opt to take this trip through one of the tour operators, which is highly recommended for your safety, you will learn a lot about the flora and fauna along the way. You'll also probably hear about the local legend of the "princess pool", a pool located underneath the waterfall.
Things to pack for this hiking adventure include sturdy shoes or hiking boots, sun cream, water, a rain coat, insect repellent, trousers and a long-sleeved shirt and, as mentioned earlier, your camera.
