What's the weather like in November in Bintan

November is well into the wet northeast monsoon season in Bintan, a season that started in October, so expect to see rain on more days than not. This island in the Riau archipelago in Indonesia receives plenty of rainfall this month, but it's also very warm and there's still enough sunshine to enjoy. Keep in mind, though, that this is also typhoon season and strong winds and heavy downpours should be expected.

Rainfall

November is the wettest month of the year in Bintan, receiving no less than 267mm of rainfall in total. Only December really comes close to that very high number. The chance that rainfall occurs on any given day increases significantly in the course of the month. The beginning is the driest part of the month, with a chance of 54%. That chance increases to 76% by the time the month is over. The most common type of rainfall by far is thunderstorms. They occur on 62% of the days with precipitation. Moderate rain may be experienced as well, but it only happens on 29% of those wet days.

Sunshine Hours

Cloud cover also increases greatly throughout November. It increases from 45% in the beginning of the month to 58% at the end. This is a significant rise, a change in weather conditions that limits the amount of sunrays that hit the island resort. November has 7 hours of sunshine per day on averagehe number of daily sunshine hours hasn't been this low since the previous May.

Sea Temperature

This wet and stormy weather results in less than ideal diving and snorkelling conditions. Swimming and sunbathing, however, are still very much possible during dry spells, of which, make no mistake, there are still many. The sea temperature makes swimming a very comfortable activity all-year round and, in November, it averages 29°C.

Temperature

The air temperatures, too, are delightfully high this time of yearll throughout the year, really. The afternoon high temperatures ranges around 30°C, while the nighttime low temperatures average 24°C. These are both numbers that are amazingly high. The overall average temperature is 27°C, which is essentially the annual average.

Things to do in Bintan in November

Bintan is famous for its ecotourism and the Sri Bintan Kampung Eco Tour is a classic example of why. This tour takes you on an exploration of the traditional Indonesian Kampung (local villages) of Sri Bintan, the local name of Bintan Island. It gives you a look at the day-to-day way of life of the locals. The tour takes about three hours and is packed with things to do. Among the sites on the tour are a blacksmith and a rubber plantation. You can cap your tour off with a lunch complemented by traditional dances, performed whilst you eat.

Other additional tours give a wide-ranging sense of the culture and history of the island, using nearly every form of transportation. You can tour by bus, by boat and even by trishaw (what they call a rickshaw in Indonesia). The trishaw is probably the most authentic and historically accurate way of touring, but depending on the weatherovember is the wettest month of the whole year with its 267mm of rainfallou may want to opt for another mode of transport.

Any way you look at it, though, you have many options to see the sights and soak up the culture of Bintan.
