What's the weather like in Bintan in June
June marks the beginning of the dry southwest monsoon season in Bintan, Indonesia. This is the high tourist season in the region, a region that comprises the Riau archipelago of which Bintan is a part, and Singapore, which lies just across the Singapore Strait. The weather is much drier than it was in the past seven to eight months, temperatures are still high and there is plenty of sunshine to enjoy. Diving conditions are near perfect.
Temperature
The sea temperature is at its annual high in June, averaging 30°C. The same temperature is also recorded in May. This alone makes swimming and sunbathing hugely popular activities on the island, but when you also consider the weather conditions that follow below, you'll want to book a summer vacation straight away.
In the afternoons, the mercury climbs to an average high temperature of 31°C, the highest in the whole year, which is also recorded in the previous three months. At night, the temperature doesn't drop below the average low of 24°C. Needless to say that these high temperatures are delightful. However, make sure to get air-con in your room or you won't sleep very much if you're not used to these kinds of temperature. The overall average temperature is 28°C.
Sunshine Hours
A typical day in June enjoys 8 hours of sunshine on average. This is basically the annual daily averageost months have 7, 8 or 9 hours of sunshine per day.
This relatively high number of sunshine hours is thanks to decreasing cloud cover. Cloud cover drops from 41% to 38% in the course of the month.
Rainfall
This, of course, also influences the amount of rainfallewer clouds, less precipitation. And indeed, June is one of the driest months of the whole year, with a total of 134mm. Only August, with its 133mm total is drier, but only very, very slightly. These numbers, it must be said, would be quite high in any other non-tropical destination, but here in Bintan, they're the lowest in the year. This relatively low amount of rainfall makes diving conditions ideal this time of year. The visibility underwater is excellent and the water is gloriously warm.
The chance that precipitation occurs decreases throughout June. It is most likely in the beginning of the month (38%) and least likely at the end (28%). Moderate is the most common rainfall type, occurring on 57% of the days with rainfall. Thunderstorms and light rain might happen as well, respectively on 24% and 18% of those days.
