August in Biarritz is the warmest month of the year and perhaps the busiest month for tourists in this part of the southwest of France. Many of the hotels, motels and other accommodations stay fully booked this month so visitors are advised to book rooms well in advance of an August trip.

The average daily high temperature in August is right around 23°C (73°F) with the sea temperatures averaging out only slightly cooler at 22°C (72°F), which is as warm as the sea gets for the year.

The nightly low temperature that can be expected is 17°C (63°F). Warm ocean breezes may make it feel closer to the daytime temperatures, however.

August is a relatively dry month and usually receives no more than 97mm (or a little less than 4 inches) of rain for the month. There are 11 to 13 days that see rain during the month and, on average, visitors can expect to experience 9 to 10 hours of sunshine each and every day.

Visitors to Biarritz in August will find that the beaches are extremely crowded and, in order to secure a nice spot, one must arrive early in the morning. Not to worry though, there are numerous beaches in the vicinity within walking distance or a short drive.

The normal beach activities such as surfing, swimming, kayaking and diving are available to visitors in abundance in August. Guided boating tours of the coastal areas around Biarritz are highly recommended at this time of the year.

No trip to Biarritz would be complete without a trip to the Casino Barrière de Biarritz where one can test their luck at the slots or match their skills with other players at the blackjack or poker tables.

Golfing is another of the pastimes in Biarritz that has made it such a haven. There are a dozen or more world class golf courses within a 20km radius of the city proper. Many of the hotels in the city offer packages including a round or two of golf with the price of the room. Even non-golfers may want to take advantage of the opportunity to check out some of the nicest golf courses to be found anywhere.

The Mercure Thalassa Régina & du Golf hotel is the perfect spot for visitors who plan to take advantage of the golf courses in the area. The hotel itself overlooks the Biarritz-le Phare Golf Course and has spacious, well appointed rooms. There is free Wi-Fi access throughout the hotel and the restaurant, Les Jardins de l'Océan, offers guests a wide array of fine foods to choose from. Guests of the hotel may also avail of a discount to the Sofitel Spa and Wellness centre which is located about 500 meters away. Overall, it's great value for the money.
