What's the weather like in Berrmuda in March?

Temperature

The climate in March is gradually getting warmer and the days are starting to get longer. The temperatures here now are similar to San Diego in the USA with an average temperature of 19°C. The temperatures can reach a day time high of 21°C and an overnight low temperature of 16°C during this month making it a pleasant month to visit for people wanting to explore the island without worrying about getting overheated or sunburnt.

The warmest day recorded in March was 26°C and the lowest recorded temperature was 7°C. Days are starting to get longer with approximately 7 hours of sunshine each day and the length of each day increasing by about one hour from the first of the month to the end. Daylight savings begins in March so clocks go forward one hour. Sunrise is at around 7.20am and the sun sets at 7.30pm in March.

Swimming is starting to get more appealing for keen swimmers as the sea temperatures are beginning to increase to around 19°C but a wetsuit is still advisable. March is the beginning of whale watching season in Bermuda so head out on a boat to spot these beautiful animals in their natural environment. Wind speeds can affect boat trips so check with operators beforehand but winds are generally light to fresh, 6 mph to 22 mph. Sometimes winds can get as strong as 32 mph but these winds help keep the humidity down. Average humidity during March is 60% to 85% and is gradually getting more humid later in the month.

The cottages have a private balcony or patio with kitchens that feature a microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The resort has on-site restaurants, a fitness centre and tennis courts as well as barbecue facilities for guests to use.

Edgehill Manor Guesthouse

Located close to Hamilton's historic centre and Elbow beach is the Edgehill Manor guesthouse. Situated in beautiful gardens with an outdoor swimming pool and offering a range of rooms that sleep between two and four people, this resort features elegant rooms with classic décor. All rooms have a balcony, cable TV, mini-fridge, toaster, microwave and free Wi-Fi. Rates include a continental breakfast.

 

Bars and Restaurants

The Swizzle Inn

The Swizzle Inn is a local institution and has two locations, one at Bailey's Bay and another at Warwick. Established in 1932 in a 17th century roadhouse, the bar is home to Bermuda's national drink the Rum Swizzle. Owned and operated by the same family since 1962, this is a great venue for a few afternoon drinks on the patio in the March sun, breakfast, a tasty lunch or long dinner. The bars have regular events such as trivia nights; entertainment and sports are shown here on the TV.

Lobster Pot Restaurant

A popular place for seafood and fish is the Lobster Pot restaurant in Hamilton. This is a friendly and relaxed dining choice with great food and service suitable for the whole family. Serving fresh fish and seafood, as well as delicious steaks, vegetarian options and salads, this has an extensive menu that is sure to please everyone. Reservations are advised as it can get busy and is open for lunch and dinner and is a must-visit for anyone staying in Hamilton.

Tom Moore Tavern

The Tom Moore's tavern is Bermuda's oldest eating-house and is located on Walsingham Bay. Built in 1652 as a private residence, this well-maintained building has many original features including a fireplace for colder March days and became a tavern 100 years ago. There is an outdoor terrace, seating for large groups and five rooms over two floors. Open for dinner, the menu consists of meats, fish and seafood and vegetarian food as well as a delicious desert menu. There is an extensive wine list and plenty of beers on tap.

Island Tour Centre

March is the beginning of whale watching season, which lasts only until April, so now is the time to go whale watching with Island Tour Centre. For a day trip you will never forget, head out onto the open water and watch these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. These large boats are ideal for watching the whales on their annual migration north towards the Antarctic. The crew are knowledgeable and will make your trip fun and educational.

Bermuda International Film Festival

The Bermuda International film festival takes place in March each year and this is a great opportunity to mingle with the locals and watch some international movies. With movies shown at different venues around Bermuda, there is sure to be a movie being shown close to your accommodation and as well as movies there are free live talks with film producers at different times throughout the festival.
