What's the weather like in Berlin in March

Known for its vibrant nightlife with plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs to enjoy and party in after the sun goes down, Berlin is a great place for visitors looking for a good time. The city also has lots to offer for daytime activities, from museums to theatres to shopping. In March, the weather continues to improve, with warmer temperatures and steady rainfall chances.

Temperature

The average daily temperature for this month sits around 4°C (about 39°F), still chilly but with the proper warm clothing, you'll be fine outside exploring the sites. The lows still drop down to freezing, going down to 0°C (around 32°F). Head inside for a warm cup of coffee and hearty German meal to warm yourself from the inside out. The highs jump up to 8°C (around 46°F), so during the warmest parts of the day, it finally starts to feel like spring, teasing visitors with the warmth to come.

When you're packing for your trip to this part of Germany, be sure to bring along the winter coat and maybe a hat, gloves and scarves to stay warm when outside. You'll also want plenty of warm layers such as long-sleeved shirts and jumpers. You'll want lots of layers that you can add on when you're outside and take off when you get inside in the heat.

Precipitation

While not as common this month, snow is still possible especially toward the beginning of the month. Precipitation amounts equal about 36 mm throughout the month, falling over 13 days, so you'll want an umbrella. The sun shines about five hours a day in March, so you'll want to plan accordingly to get in your outdoor activities during the daylight hours. The chance of rain each day is about 40 percent and it's still fairly cloudy this time of the year.
