What's the weather like in Berlin in February
Sitting on the River Spree in the northeast part of Germany, Berlin is a cultural destination of Western Europe with lots to see and do. The city is known for its music, art and sports and hosts numerous events and activities throughout the year.
Temperature
In February, the average daily temperature improves slightly, up to 1°C (about 34°F) compared to January's -1°C (around 30°F).
At night, the lows drop down to a very chilly -2°C (about 28°F); warm up in a local restaurant or bar with a glass of wine or German beer. During the day, the highs get up to 4°C (about 39°F), slowly warming up as the month goes on. The temperatures in the city are slightly higher than the nearby town of Grunheide because of the warming properties of the urban setting. The buildings and roads absorb the heat and keep the city warmer than the surrounding countryside.
Sunshine Hours
The days are still short this time of the year, with only three hours of sunshine each day on average. If you plan your time right, you can still get in some of the outdoor activities during the sunny hours and save the indoor sights for when it gets darker.
Rainfall
Clouds and rain are prominent this month, with a 40 percent chance of rain on any given day. Nearly 34 mm of rain falls in the month, so you'll want to have the umbrella handy.
Precipitation
With the near-freezing temperatures, some of that precipitation will fall as snow, so be prepared with a good pair of warm and sturdy boots. You'll also want a heavy coat or jacket and a pair of gloves and hat to keep your extremities warm. The month sees about 12 days of precipitation; check the local forecast each morning to know exactly what to expect that day.
