Bergerac is a small market town in south west France. It's a traditional area adorned with renaissance buildings, medieval houses and cobbled streets, but has a lively atmosphere and nightlife that centres around the many gourmet restaurants nearby.
Temperatures take a hit in Bergerac in November as the cooler winter period appears. It is unusual to see temperatures reach any higher than 13 degrees celsius, and lows of just 5 degrees can be expected.
Rainfall increases slightly from previous months to around 89mm falling over about 14 days. The cool November temperatures mean that frosty conditions are likely.
Take shelter from the increased rain with a trip to the Lansade Regis Cave. This wine cave differs from others in the area in that it is independently run and is very small and intimate, but the tours are outstanding and there's plenty of tasting to be done at the end so it's particularly suited to wine loving travellers.
Enjoy dinner at the traditional and cozy RestaurantLeSaintJacques. The French cuisine here is one of a kind, with the added influence of the owners' Netherlands heritage. The specialities are goose and duck, and there's a large wine menu, too. Be sure to check out the 14th Century stone staircase leading to the upper storey apartments. This is a busy little place, so book in advance to avoid disappointment.
For just £48 per night travellers can stay at LaBonbonnière. Located in Bergerac's old town, this authentic medieval house is within walking distance to many of the town's attractions. The individually styled rooms are all stunning, and breakfast is served each morning comprising of homemade jams and honey along with pastries, breads and cakes.
