May is the final month of spring in Belek and the temperatures are warming up as it gets closer to summer. The average day time temperature for May is 20°C. This increases throughout May and toward the end of the month the average will be closer to 23°C. The average high is 25°C and the average low is 15°C. The highest recorded temperature for May was 39°C and the lowest 5°C. You should pack a light sweater for the evenings but the days are now warm enough to pack a swim suit for the pool.

May is a dry month for Belek with just 30mm of rain falling over 7 days. You should pack a rain jacket or umbrella in case you get caught in a shower while out exploring. The chances of a holiday without any rain get higher towards the end of the month.

Belek experiences 13 hours of sunshine a day in May which gives you plenty of time to lie on the beach and work on your tan. The extra hours of daylight will make it easier to take longer daytrips and excursions to explore the area around Belek.

Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort and Spa is a 5 star resort on the beach front with a private beach. They employ a group of entertainers and animators to ensure that you are always having fun. You can choose from a wide range of accommodation starting at a standard suite to the presidential suites and villas. They have a large outdoor theatre which hosts concerts and live performances every night from May. There are two swimming pools and a separate pool for children. The resort is all inclusive and you can choose from 10 different restaurants including the main buffet style restaurant. There are 13 bars to ensure that you are never far away from a drink.

Riu Kaya Palazzo Golf Resort is 4 star all inclusive resort with a small private beach away from the main section of Belek. You will find 5 restaurants and 5 bars on site to ensure that all your needs are met. There are three swimming pools and an Aqua park with 7 slides that operates from the 1 May. The resort has a spa offering a variety of treatments including a Turkish bath and snow fountain. There is a mini club for children and a playground.  You can choose between standard rooms, suites, duplexes and villas with either sea facing or garden facing options.

 

The Bellis Hote has a strip 200 meter strip of private beach with a number of facilities; non-guests have to pay a fee to spend the day on the beach. This fee allows access to the beach and the hotels main pool. The fee changes through the seasons depending on demand. An extra fee will get you a sun lounger on the beach or under an umbrella. There is bar service available to the sun loungers but you will also find a bar and a snack cafe on the beach. If you want the ultimate in luxury you can hire a cabana for the day. The cabanas have comfy chairs, a fan, all the towels you could need and a private butler service. There is a lifeguard on the beach every day. The sand is soft and raked every morning; this is a great beach for small children as the waves are very small.

Kaputas Beach is a public beach about twenty minutes drive from Belek in the village of Kas. The waves are slightly bigger here then at Bellis but they will be suitable for older children. The beach is surrounded by hills and cliffs making it very picturesque.  The beach is small and fairly well hidden making it a popular spot with locals.  There are not toilet facilities or lifeguards. The nearest shops require a walk back up the cliffs and a short drive so pack everything you might need for the day. Be aware there is a scam offering tours to the blue caves on the beach. The cave is nearby but it is small and free so just ignore anybody trying to sell a tour.

Gardeners Bar and Cafe is a popular English bar in the centre of the small town of Belek. This is a great spot to watch the footie or rugby with a pint of beer. They serve English breakfast, fish and chips and pie and chips. The pub is great place to visit if you are missing England or just need a taste of English food. There is outside seating if you want a break from the pub noise. The food is reasonably priced and they have a large selection of beers. The pub can be found on the main road in the centre of Belek.

Istanbul Restaurant serves Turkish cuisine, pizza and steak.  They have a lovely shaded outdoor seating area which is perfect for people watching. They have piped heaters on the roof to keep the chill away in the evening. They are famous for their wood fired pizzas and lamb kebabs. The prices are some of cheapest in Belek. They aren't licensed buy you are welcome to bring your own drinks.  20. Sokak-Akdeniz Mah. A Blok No. 1

Play a round of golf at The Montgomerie Maxx Royal Golf Club, this is the largest and most ambitious golf course in Belek. The course was designed by the famous golf champion Colin Montgomerie.  The course is 6486m and plays to a par of 72. Golf equipment is for rent and sale at the course shop. You need to register and pay the required fee at golf reception before playing and be dressed in proper golf style clothing. The course consists of 18 holes and offers beautiful views of the ocean and the well designed course.

Visit the Dolphinarium in Troy Park, which has two live shows every day at 11am and 3pm. The fee is 25 Euros per adult and children under 10 are free. The show lasts about an hour and includes performances by dolphins, whales and a walrus. There is a break during the show for people to have their photos taken, for a fee, with the various animals. At the end of the show you can swim with the dolphins for an extra fee.
