The ski resorts in the Taurus Mountains are a short drive from Belek. It is possible to drive there, spend the day skiing and drive back that night but most people spend a night or two on the slopes. January is your best chance for good snow in Turkey. The resorts are for the most part modern and well run. The prices are far cheaper then you will find in the more popular European and American resorts. This is a great area to learn to ski but there are some interesting slopes for more advanced skiers. Belek Town Mosque is the highest rated cultural attraction in Belek on TripAdvisor. You will need to respect the customs of the mosque by wearing appropriate clothing and a head scarf. There is always somebody available to take visitors on a tour. This is an oasis of calm in the middle of a tourist filled town. The mosaics on the floors and ceiling are spectacular. You can take photos of the outside of the building and certain areas inside. In the grounds you will see a waterfall with crystal clear water that is worth walking around.
