June continues to be absolutely sweltering in Bayahibe, with daytime temperatures reaching up to around 31°C. It is also extremely humid at this time of year and, in the evenings, temperatures only fall as low as 22°C.
Hurricane season also officially begins on June 1st, although the risk of hurricane activity is normally fairly low at this time of year.
The wet season also rolls in around in June, so be prepared to lose some beach hours to rainy showers. However, these rarely last very long and are usually a nice respite from the stifling heat during the rest of the day.
Away from the beach, there are other sights to see during your stay.
Altos de Chavon Artists Village is nestled above the Chavon River. This intriguing community was built by architect and film set designer Robert Coppa during the 1970's in the style of an Italian Renaissance village.
As you travel through the winding, cobbled streets you can find many studios and galleries and the 5000-seat amphitheatre regularly hosts shows.
The National Park islands of Catalina and Saona offer an opportunity to see some rare wildlife and see some archaeological sites. Boat trips to both these islands are frequent and this is a great way to spend a day of your trip.
Bayahibe is a much quieter resort than many places in the Dominican Republic, but if you are seeking some lively nightlife of an evening then you can head to nearby La Romana. Here there are plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy and for younger holidaymakers there are nightclubs to dance the night away in!
