July remains extremely hot and humid in Bayahibe. Daytime temperatures reach a high of 31°C and even at night fall no lower than 22°C, so be sure to bring plenty of light clothing in breathable fabrics such as cotton and linen.
The summer months are the wet season in the Dominican Republic, so you may experience some showers during your stay. However, Bayahibe is located on the South side of the island so has less rain than many other areas.
Rain showers tend to occur at night and, if they do occur during the day, they rarely last very long. In fact, the warm showers can provide a welcome respite from the sweltering heat!
There is also a risk of hurricanes during this time. These are more likely to occur later in the year but pay attention to weather warnings at your resort.
Of course you will be visiting Bayahibe with an eye to spending a lot of time at the beach, and you are spoilt for choice in this area!
Playa Bayahibe as well as nearby Minitas and Caleta beaches are much quieter than the more 'touristy' beaches and boast miles of golden sand and clear waters.
This area is also hugely popular for scuba diving, with high visibility and warm waters providing the perfect conditions for exploring the coral reef and several shipwrecks.
There are plenty of places to hire scuba equipment from and lessons are available for less experiences divers.
However, take care not to attempt dives that are beyond your fitness or capability.
For a less strenuous way to explore the local scenery, you can go on a jeep safari through the nearby hills, either alone or with a local guide.
