The months of July and August offer the best summer weather in Banff.

July is the peak summer tourist period and enjoys warm, sunny and long days. The average daytime temperatures are around 22°C (71°F) whereas the average minimum temperatures are around 7°C (about 45°F).

Banff enjoys the greatest amount of daylight during this month. The sun rises at 5.30 am and sets at 10pm, so an average of 8 hours of direct sunshine per day can be enjoyed during this month.

You don't have to worry about the weather taking an unexpected turn for the worse, as there is no snow or fog expected during this month.

There is, however, still an average of 54.2 mm over 15 days of rainfall expected, so be sure to pack a waterproof jacket in case you get caught in the rain.

Those who love outdoor activities and camping will have the time of their life in Banff. July also happens to be the best month to experience the wildlife and is also perfect for camping holidays. All the lakes have also melted by mid July. The cable car ride is a good way to see it all, as it gives the best views of the whole village and the mountains.

You can experience the warm water springs and geysers around the town as well.

July 1st is Canada Day in Banff, this holiday celebrates national heritage with food stalls, cavalry displays, concerts and firework displays.

Banff Summer Arts Festival also occurs from July to August at the Banff centre. It is Banff's largest festival and showcases the works of the area's best artists with a number of different events including aboriginal art, film screenings, theatre shows, jazz and dance performances, lectures and art exhibitions.
