August is characterised by warm, sunny, long days. Both flora and fauna are at their most active and impressive in Banff during this period. The average daytime temperatures during this period are around 21°C (about 70°F) whereas the minimum average temperatures in the night are around 7°C (about 44°F).

You can experience the most spectacular views of the mountains, unlike winter when everything is grey and cloudy. In August, Banff experiences an average of 7 hours of sunshine per day and around 68% humidity.

There isn't any snow or fog expected during this month, so you do not need to worry about extreme weather conditions.

However, there is still on average 60.1mm of rainfall expected over 15 days during August, so bear in mind that you may need to pack a waterproof jacket.

The leaves start their autumnal metamorphosis during this period, turning Banff into a mesmerizing place of seasonal hues. The average wind speed around this time of the year is around 12kph (about 7 mph).

There are quite a few dedicated art galleries, as well as the museums, which are worth checking out. However make sure you book the tickets in advance to avoid long queues.

August is the month that hosts the Banff International String Quartet Competition. From the end of the month to September, the international youth music festival takes place at the Banff Centre and is very popular.
