Where to Stay

There are few destinations near Europe that can offer better weather in March than the southern coast of Gran Canaria. Therefore, come to Bahia Feliz, and warm up from a cold winter with an early spring vacation. Normally booked accommodation options, like Buganville Apartments will be less hectic, and hopefully, less money. Buganville Apartments promises a sea view from every single apartment, and with a location near Bahia del Ingles, the snow, ice and sleet of February on mainland Europe will float out with the tide.

When you need to rest your head somewhere homey, yet fabulous, after a day of salt and sand, it must be the Lopesan Villa del Conde Resort & Thalasso. This 5-star hotel is ideally located near the Playa de Meloneras and on gorgeous, luscious grounds. The upscale rooms have amenities such as whirlpool tubs, living and sitting space and amazing views of the sea.

While the town of Maspalomas is a bit farther west from Bahia Feliz, it has the advantage of being home to the phenomenal Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia. This luxury hotel leaves no detail unattended, and when it comes to beauty the design and décor of this Spanish colonial-style hotel is unmatched in southern Gran Canaria. The interior and exterior of the Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia are classically stunning, and each guest room is perfectly balanced between sophistication and comfort. Finally, the hotel's effort to provide a private holiday goes above and beyond guests' expectations.

Visitors who are more inclined to take to the sea rather than the sky can rent sea kayaks from a number locations near Bahia Feliz. A kayaking trip, with a guide or self-guided is a great way to see Bahia Feliz, and other parts of Gran Canaria from afar. Plus, kayaking is a great form of exercise, without sacrificing time in the sun, for those who want a more active holiday. Aquasports in nearby Playa del Ingles rent kayaks, along with other watercrafts such as jet skis, jet boats, flyboard rentals and yacht rentals.

Hit the Beach

Visitors who want a day trip from the quiet of Bahia Feliz in early spring, should consider the drive to Pozo Izquierdo. The coast at Pozo Izquierdo is often considered the European windsurfing capital of the world. As the consistent sea breeze off the south-eastern coast of Gran Canaria provides good conditions for windsurfing all year long. Anyone who isn't keen to give the sport a try can spend the day relaxing on the beach, as like most of Gran Canaria, Pozo Izquierdo receives an outstanding amount of sunshine each year.

Where to Eat & Drink

Just to the west of Bahia Feliz lies the small village of Playa del Aguila, which may seem an odd tourist stop before San Agustin, except it boasts the impressive Rincon Canario restaurant. The menu of Mediterranean and Spanish food is filled with fresh fish and other seafood. If the food is not enticing enough, the restaurant's location right on the beach makes it an ideal spot for dinner or relaxed drinks.

Farther to the west of Bahia Feliz, San Agustin is a larger resort with some beautiful beaches, and offers a range of restaurants including the Restaurante El Puente. This is a traditional, relaxed establishment with traditional Spanish cuisine, and the menu is based mostly on locally caught seafood. For a more upscale experience in San Agustin, visitors should try Nito's Restaurante. The restaurant is small and cosy, but the menu is filled with tapas options. In addition, the staff regularly receive high praise for their efficient and friendly service, and the Swedish owners have put heart and soul into this restaurant.
