What's the Weather Like in Ayia Napa in
Temperature and Sea Temperature
In April, the average low temperature in this resort is 11°C. The average high temperature for Ayia Napa during the month is 22°C. Both temperatures are significantly higher than they were in March, but there is still quite a difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures. Therefore, you are advised to take a jacket when you head out to take advantage of the resort's famous nightlife. Things are really starting to warm up now, though, and soon the resort's beaches will be filled with party-goers and sunbathers.
The average low temperature rises from 10°C on April 1 to 14°C on April 30, while the average high temperatures increases from 21°C to a wonderful 24°C in the course of the month. The overall average daily temperature is 17°C, five degrees warmer than the 12°C during January and February, but still ten degrees below the annual high of 27°C in July and August. The average sea temperature is 18°C.
Rainfall
The amount of rainfall has decreased dramatically compared with March and will continue to lessen throughout April. Now, there are only 6 days of rainfall and the total amount of rainfall is 12mm, pretty dry compared with the 42mm total in March. April is the seventh-wettest (or sixth-driest) month of the year in Ayia Napa. The probability that rainfall will occur is highest in the beginning of the month (a 29% chance) and lowest at the end (21%). The most likely type of precipitation to occur in April is moderate rain. It occurs on 44% of days with rainfall. The two other most likely types of rainfall are thunderstorms and light rain, happening respectively on 38% and 16% of rainy days.
Clouds
The decrease in rainfall is related to the constant decrease in cloud cover. April 1 has a 36% cloud cover, while April 30 has 29% cloud cover left. On April 15, for example, there is a 51% chance of clear skies, a 19% chance of partly cloudy skies and an 18% chance of an overcast sky. Those are pretty good odds!
Sunshine Hours
Less cloud cover also logically results in more sunshine. On average, April experiences 11 sunshine hours per day, one more than March, but two less than May.
Daylight Hours
The length of the days also increases in the course of the month, which also contributes to more sunshine hours. The shortest day of the month is April 1, with 12.34 daylight hours, and the longest day of the month of April 30, which has 13.34 hours of daylight.
Although April is not yet the tourist season in Ayia Napa and the rest of Cyprus, the weather is already warm and pleasant enough for tourists to enjoy the sun, sea and sand, especially towards the end of the month.
