What's the Weather Like in Aruba in September

Temperature

September is still very much the summertime in Aruba, but with one key difference: this is the beginning of the rainy season. This means that the climate begins to change in quite a dramatic fashion, as we still have daily average temperatures of 29°C, but a much higher amount of rain. That however does not affect the daily highs and lows, which stay within the range of 31°C and 26°C. Certain places in Aruba are a little cooler due to winds, like Arasji.

Rain

The average rainfall is our main area of concern here. Although in August, and much of the summer, there was only 10mm of rain falling on average, we now see an increase to 50mm throughout the month. The good news, in part, is that this only takes place across five days. However, that also does mean that each of those five days will now see 10mm of rain the same amount as will fall in a whole month previously. If you wish to travel in September in order to avoid families travelling with school aged kids, the good news is that this is not the peak of the rainy season it is more like an introductory phase, and it does get wetter from here on in.

Water Temperature

Evidently, you will want to keep one eye on the weather forecast at all times especially if you are looking to avoid getting rained on. You can enjoy the sea during the meantime, however, as the water is very pleasant. The peak of the summer weather brings us to an average sea temperature of 29°C, which will feel very warm on your skin whenever you go for a dip. Just watch out for those storms coming in and winds getting up, as this can lead to a rough sea which is difficult to swim in. Pay attention to weather warnings to avoid getting caught out by this phenomenon.

Hotels in Aruba in September

Occidental Grand Aruba All Inclusive Resort

You could stay at the Occidental Grand Aruba All Inclusive Resort while you are here in September, and you certainly would not be disappointed by the facilities which are available. These include a beautiful pool area, restaurants, six bars, plenty of sports activities, a kids club, and even a welcome drink. Should you wish to begin scuba-diving, they can demonstrate all you have to do it.

Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort Aruba

Or you could try staying at the Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort Aruba, a four-star property which is set right on Eagle Beach. The facilities include free movies on the beach, which are screened under the stars, as well as a freshwater infinity pool, a fitness centre, a restaurant, a bar and lounge, a spa, and much more. This is all in an 18+ only atmosphere.

Wonders Boutique Hotel

The Wonders Boutique Hotel offers a different experience entirely. It is set in a gated property, with a pool which is fed by a natural spring. There are just 10 rooms, each with their own private bathrooms, and it is set in a residential area. You are still close by to the beach, and breakfast is available as part of your room fee.

Hit the Beach

Surfside Beach

We mentioned above that the average water temperature in September is 29°C, and that makes this one of the best times of the year to hit the waves. Near the capital city, Surfside Beach is a bit of a hidden gem which is not known to tourists on the whole. Locals love it, and you can watch a beautiful sunset here while admiring the local fishing boats.

Wariruri Beach

You could also try a visit to the sandy cove of Wariruri Beach, found along the rocky north shore and bordered by limestone cliffs. This is a favourite place for local surfers, and fishermen will also sit here to cast their lines. The main attraction is a picturesque natural bridge carved out by the weather over aeons.

Bars and Restaurants

Flying Fishbone

One of the great local restaurants that you can visit is the Flying Fishbone. Situated right on the beach, it offers you the chance to sample beautiful fresh seafood dishes, prepared to an extremely high quality. This is truly high dining, and in an amazing setting too.

Wilhelmina Restaurant

Then there is Wilhelmina Restaurant, opened by chef Dennis in 2015 and presenting fusion cuisine. This highly modern space concentrates on offering a place to relax and also celebrate, with a cocktail bar alongside the casual but elegant dining setting. Groups of more than seven need to book in advance. Children under 12 years old are not permitted.

The Kitchen Table by White

Then there is The Kitchen Table by White, which combines Caribbean, Creole, and Cajun flavours for a triple treat. The food here is absolutely exquisite, prepared to a very high standard so that it almost looks more like art than food. If that worries you, don't be afraid you can still get a simple burger and chips if you wish!

Things to Do in Aruba in September

Philip's Animal Garden

If you or the kids love wildlife, be sure to visit Philip's Animal Garden. Here you will discover a wonderful non-profit sanctuary set in beautiful grounds, which houses animals such as monkeys, camels, brightly coloured parrots, and even horses. A great day out for all the family.

Aruba Bob Snorkeling

On the other hand, you might want to get underwater. If this is the case, get in touch with Aruba Bob Snorkeling. This exciting experience will make you feel as though you were James Bond himself, with a memorable adventure under the waves that starts directly from the beach. You will travel using an underwater scooter, with an inflatable lifejacket for safety.

Happy Divers Aruba

Another underwater tour can be provided by Happy Divers Aruba. They will take you snorkelling to meet turtles, fish, and all kinds of underwater life. If you do not yet know how to dive, they will be happy to provide training for you so that you feel comfortable once you get into the water. This is the perfect way to take advantage of the high water temperatures in September.
