March in Aqaba city is one of the most fun, active months of the year. It is the ideal weather for all outdoor activities because the overall climate during this time of the year has the perfect balance between the receding cold winter and the encroaching warmth of a dry summer.
March has very agreeable weather conditions since it is not too hot and humid nor too cold and windy. The warmest temperature would be around 26°C or 78°F while the lowest peak would be 14°C or 57°F. This enables you to enjoy a sunny cool day by the beach without having to worry about getting cold.
However, diving in a full wetsuit with a hood is still required for safety reasons. Water temperature is warmer with an average of 20°C or 68°F, but the sharp cold waves of the sea are still considered as unpredictable at this time.
You can still enjoy a clear view of the underwater world of the gulf though and many reputed diving centres are available to assist you at any time.
For all athletes and fitness fanatics out there, you will be pleased to discover that Aqaba hosts several marathons that include a half marathon (starts in December), a Triathlon, and a Dead to Red Marathon (from the Dead Sea to the Red Sea). Most of these races are usually seen in March, particularly the Triathlon, and tourists are welcome to join as well.
Mawoulid An-Nabawi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, is celebrated during March and this creates a huge event across all Islam communities within the city and the country.
Finish the month off by attending the International Theatre Festival, the only organised theatre festival that presents the best independent films in Arabic and English. There are also workshops and support groups that you can attend which explore the intricacies of the cinematic art.
