Ao Nang enjoys a tropical climate with warm temperatures all throughout the year even during the rainy season. That is why the festive period brings an influx of visitors escaping the chilly winter in other places. December sees a lowering of temperatures with an average of 26 degrees. Daytime sees highs of 31 degrees while nights are expected to be warm with lows of 22 degrees. Rainfall lowers significantly to 70mm during this month as the dry and hotter season is starting.

Ao Nang has some of the best shopping options for souvenirs and Christmas presents although it is a little laid-back as compared to the hectic shopping in the bigger cities. There is a choice of street side shops, small stalls along the beach selling Thai handicraft and quaint boutiques in the town centre. Ananya is a stylish boutique that sells bags, silk cushion covers, ceramics, handicrafts and Thai silk and pashmina products. Chock Dee Handmade has beautiful gold and silver jewellery including fossils. Prices may be a little high but it can always be haggled down.
