Antalya Hotels in August

The Blue Sea Garden Hotel is a quaint, remodelled Ottoman-style home. This small hotel only has 16 rooms, all of which are have air-conditioning, a feature that can't be emphasized enough during the hot month of August. Each guest is invited to enjoy breakfast and meals in this hotel's courtyard complete with orange and palm trees. The hotel may be a remodelled home but it does have a pool to enjoy.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Tutav Adalya Hotel is one of the most luxurious and opulent in Antalya. Considered both beautiful and a great bargain, this hotel is located conveniently in Kaleici, or the Old Town region of the city. Of course, because the hotel is located in the oldest part of town, the walk to it with luggage can be quite trying.

The 5-star Saturn Palace is one all-inclusive with relatively uniform rave reviews. This stylish and contemporary hotel is extremely clean and staffed with attentive individuals. Slightly smaller than the average all-inclusive at 221 rooms, there are fewer guests to dedicate attention to so you'll enjoy quicker response time and more thoughtful service.

If you would rather spend money on unique accommodations, La Boutique Antalya may be for you. This resort is a little more removed from the busy beach and city scenes in Antalya but it is by no means isolated. The hotel has spectacular views over the area combined with excellent personalized service.

The Melas Lara Hotel is a popular all-inclusive that sits near one of the area's best beaches, Lara Beach.  The views from this hotel can range from looking at one of the sides of the hotel to overlooking the beach and surrounding landscape. There are a variety of restaurants and bars inside to fully take advantage of the all-inclusive package.

Bars and Restaurants

One fine dining establishment that couldn't come more highly recommended is the Big Chef. This eatery has gourmet courses that show influences from Turkey and around the world. There are vegetarian options as well for those with special diet constraints. But not all items are internationally influenced; they also have classics like eggs benedict, pumpkin cheese cake and pastas.

The Anadolu Park Restaurant is one of the most unique dining experiences in Antalya. This restaurant is located deep in the heart of a park and it feels like it is built into the tree line. Kid and family friendly, this restaurant has enough fun to keep children and adults alike excited. The menu has Turkish classics like kebabs and spiced rice that you can enjoy while looking out at the forest that surrounds the dining room. You can also choose a roasted meat option that you can even roast yourself outside!

Things to do in Antalya in August

The Karaalioglu Park is an oasis within Antalya. While the sun is beating down and the local beaches are getting more and more crowded, this park offers a lovely option to escape the people. The park has carefully manicured gardens and beautiful fountains that give this park a feeling of being a royal garden, not a public park. You can even look upon the Mediterranean Sea from this park and it's easily on the way between attractions so you can fit it into an already busy agenda.

Another popular city attraction is the Antalya Clock Tower.  Not necessarily an attraction that you would feel compelled to travel into, this clock tower was built in the 19th century. It is built by the ancient city walls, out of rough stone. It is a fantastic meeting point if you are traveling with a large party or new friends staying at a different hotel. Unfortunately, the clock tower is located in the hilly portion of Antalya so it can be a hike. If you don't have comfortable shoes or an appropriate activity level, it can be a difficult trek.

The Rixos Royal Spa in the Rixos Hotel is a lovely way to spend a day. You don't have to be a hotel guest to pay for the spa services which include a beauty centre, massages, fitness centre, sauna and a Turkish hammam. With the wide range of health services available at this spa, there is certainly something for everyone's comfort level and health needs. While in Antalya, call ahead to the Rixos Royal Spa to get a sense of their prices and availability as they can be quite busy during the tourist season.

Terra City is a shopping centre that is growing in popularity in Antalya. Packed with both international and Turkish shops, this mall has something for everyone. So if you'd like to spend some time indoors, away from the heat, or you would like to pick up souvenirs, this is a must. And like many malls, Terra City has a food court if you are craving some familiar fast food. It could be a good way to keep picky little eaters happy between exploring the local cuisine.

Dates for the diary

August brings many festivals to Antalya. The International Folk Music and Dance Festival Competition is held this month and celebrates local folk performers and heritage. This competition brings Turkish performers from around the world to compete for a chance to be voted one of the best.

Another August festival is the Antalya Honey Festival. Held in Gundogmus, a short drive from Antalya, this festival heralds the region's honey production. As to be expected, this festival is full of local treats made with artisanal honey.
