Alcudia is a well-known tourist destination found in the north of Majorca, which is also part of the Spanish Balearic Islands. The resort is popular with families and couples due to the fine sand beaches of Alcudia, as well as the charming Old Town.
There are a wide variety of beaches to take your pick from in Alcudia! Many of the beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag status due to their environmental cleanliness and amount of facilities. Some of the best locations to soak up the sun are at Alcudia Beach, Playa de Muro and Coll Baix Beach. If you're into water sports many of them offer activities such as snorkeling, windsurfing and canoeing.
Lively beaches
Alcudia Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the island due to its gorgeous fine white sand and turquoise clear waters. This Blue Flag beach is one of the main beaches in Alcudia and stretches out over three-kilometres. Toilets, showers, sun loungers and parasols are all available on this beach and lifeguards are present during the peak times in summer.
Playa de Muro Beach is a six-kilometre long Blue Flag white sand beach found next to Alcudia Beach. To the west and closest to Alcudia there are many good facilities including sun loungers, parasols, toilets, showers, disabled access and lifeguards are on duty. However, these facilities begin to disappear once you head towards the unspoilt beach of Es Comu, which is a lot quieter.
San Juan Beach and San Pedro Beach, or otherwise known as Sant Joan and Sant Pere are two neighbouring popular coves found to the north of the Old Town. Sant Joan is a 100 metre long beach made up of fine white sand, whilst Sant Pere is slightly smaller and faces the bay of Pollenca. Both beaches have plenty of facilities including sun loungers, parasols and there are many restaurants and bars located within walking distance.
Family Friendly
If you don't mind crowds Alcudia Beach offers something for everyone. This is one of the largest beaches in Majorca, which offers an extensive range of facilities such as parasailing, pedalos, windsurfing, public toilets, sun beds, parasols and open-air bars. This is also one of the most accessible beaches in the area as it is within walking distance from Alcudia. The water here is crystal clear and very calm, so it's a perfect place for the little ones!
Alcanada Beach is a 700-metre long pebble beach, which can be found close to Club de Golf Alcanada and the Port of Alcudia. The crystal clear waters here are shallow at only 1.5 metres deep making it a safe place for children and nervous swimmers.
Es Morer Vermell Beach is a 200-metre long sandy and rocky beach found only two kilometers away from Alcudia's Old Town. The waters here are very calm and peaceful making it a great spot for swimmers. The water is also crystal clear and for the first 200-metre it's only two-metres deep, so it's a perfect playground for children! Sun loungers and parasols are available here, however they are allocated only for the local hotel guests so it's best to bring along some towels if you decide to spend the day here.
Water Sports
S'Illot Beach is a small pebble and sand beach found in La Victoria, which features stunning views over Formentor and the Bay of Pollensa. The deep turquoise-green waters make it a great location for scuba diving, snorkeling and canoeing or kayaking. If you bring your own lunch there's also a picnic area within a few metres from the beachfront with chairs, tables and grills.
La Marina Beach is a very popular spot for kite and windsurfers due to the strong winds that blow from the Bay of Pollensa. This is seen as a rustic and natural part of S'Albufereta which is often quite exposed, so it's not as popular for sunbathers, but a great place for sports enthusiasts.
Alcudia Beach is a fine white sand beach which boasts a large number of water sport activities including pedalos, windsurfing, sailing, banana boats and parasailing. There are also a wide range of facilities situated here including toilets, showers, parasols, sun loungers and lifeguards are on duty during the summer months.
Secluded
Coll Baix Beach can be found to the east of Alcudia's old Town. It's quite difficult reach here but the trek is worth it if you want somewhere peaceful and secluded. It's relatively small compared to most beaches in Alcudia as it only measures at 250-metre long and 75-metre wide. The sand is also not as fine here as it is made up of a mixture of sand and shingle and the water is an unusual milky turquoise colour.
Barcares Beach, also known as 'Es Clot' is a bow-shaped inlet, which contains a mixture of small rocky beaches. To get here you will need to follow the signs for Bacares, which takes you north of the Old Town. There are no facilities here, but if you want peace and seclusion then this is the place for you!
