Albir sees summers typical of the area with day time temperatures getting into the mid to high 20s from June till September. August is the peak month seeing an average high of 30°C. Some might find early and late summer preferable to the peak months of July and August which still see temperatures around 20°C at night. June and September days still get into the mid 20s, but their evenings cool off to about 16°C. These cool evenings provide an escape from the heat of the day. However, Albir does not tend to get overcrowded so if you prefer your holiday wardrobe to consist only of a sarong and a pair of sunglasses, then the peak months are for you; the heat is usually tempered by a strong sea breeze and the hot nights allow for more than comfortable al fresco dinners.
Autumn, in October and November, still see very warm days. The temperature in early October remains in the mid 20s; by mid November it has dropped to 20°C and by the end it has fallen below to around 18°C. Night times are considerably cooler and rainfall increases. However, due to the day time temperatures, this is still a good time to visit Albir. Even the sea is doesnât become uninviting till the end of November. While rainfall does increase in frequency, it remains very light and usually takes place in short showers. October is the beginning of Albirâs rainy season proper and sees ten days with rain and the heaviest rainfall of the year.
Winter, from December till February, is quite mild, seeing temperatures around 15 or 16°C. Average lows are only around 6°C. However, frosts are quite likely and the weather can be unpredictably cold or hot. December and January see slightly more frequent rain than October, but it is usually lighter and does not last for long. Sunshine levels are reduced though it does come out for prolonged periods when it isnât raining.
Spring, from March till May, sees temperatures rising from 18°C to 22°C. Night times remain cold and the sea does not really get warm enough to swim in till the end of May unless youâre quite brave. Rainfall remains frequent but light and the sun generally stays out for longer periods.
Albir owes its pleasant climate to the Mediterranean Sea and to the high mountains that rise behind it. The sea moderates the heat in the summer and warms the region in the winter. The mountains protect the resort from north winds and draw rainfall away from the coast, providing the area with water without the inconvenience of wet, grey weather.
