What's the Weather like in Abu Dhabi in June

Temperature

June is considered to be the hot season in Abu Dhabi.  The average daily temperature is 33°C.  Daytime averages climb up to a sweltering 40°C and nights are still hot at 25°C.  The record high in June in Abu Dhabi was 49°C and the record low was only 20°C.

Rainfall

June is one of the driest months in Abu Dhabi.  Rainfall totals are imperceptible and the chance of precipitation is less than one percent.

Sunshine Hours

Abu Dhabi averages 13 hours of sunshine every day in June, just like May.  The length of the day continues to increase throughout the month, up to 13 hours 33 minutes by the end of May.  The chance of a cloudy sky is less than 15% in the beginning of the month but will increase to 38% by the end of the month.

Humidity

As far as humidity is concerned, June is approaching the most uncomfortable months in Abu Dhabi.  The average relative humidity starts to climb again, now at 60%.  The dew point continues to increase and makes air extremely uncomfortable.

The average winds in June are very similar to May.  The average wind speed is 3.9 m/s.  The wind direction is mostly out of the west, occasionally out of the north, with small periods of southerly and easterly winds.

Dress Code

Pack light, loose clothing if you're visiting Abu Dhabi in June.  You'll also want to make sure that you're respecting their local customs, especially during Ramadan.  Women can wear loose-fitting short sleeve shirts but must cover the shoulders and not expose any midriff.  Additionally, women must at least have their knees covered.  Men can wear short sleeve shirts. 

Long pants are not required but expected.  If you will be visiting a mosque, women must cover everything except their hands and face and men must wear long pants. 

Beachwear may consist of shorts for men and conservative two-piece bikinis for women, if you desire.  Also be sure to bring a light jacket to deal with the air conditioning indoors.  Check the Abu Dhabi 14-day forecast for a better picture of the weather before your trip.

Emirates Palace Hotel

The Emirates Palace Hotel is the largest, most luxurious hotel in Abu Dhabi.  The sprawling, manicured gardens complete with fountains and reflecting pools, along with the stunning hotel architecture, also draw tourists not staying at the hotel.  This elegant hotel offers 394 rooms and suites, all with lavish, classic furnishings, private balconies, and marble bathrooms.  Emirates Palace is also home to 14 bars and restaurants offering a range of cuisines & prices.  There are a number of landscaped pools on the property serving both adults and children, jogging trails, two gyms, and a private beach & marina.  The hotel also has a kid's camp, boat rentals, and camel riding available.

Mafraq Hotel

Mafraq Hotel is a four-star hotel near Abu Dhabi Gate and Abu Dhabi International Airport.  This modern hotel offers 242 accommodations, ranging from standard rooms with direct pool access, suites with living areas, and fully stocked apartments with kitchens for longer stays.  Mafraq Hotel also has six restaurants and bars, including a casual Arabic & Asian restaurant with outdoor seating, a chic Mediterranean restaurant, poolside bar, and plush lounge.  Other hotel facilities include a large swimming pool, gym & spa areas for men and women, hot tub, tennis courts, and a children's play area.

Hilton Capital Grand

The Hilton Capital Grande is a five-star lodging complex near Zayed Sports City and the Executive Airport.  This large hotel has cozy rooms and suites with modern décor and comfortable beds & bathrooms, all of which include a complimentary breakfast.  Other hotel accommodations include a day spa with a variety of treatments, a large outdoor swimming pool, 24/7 fitness centre, and a number of meeting rooms.  The Hilton Capital Grande also features five restaurants and bars including a South American-inspired lounge, an upscale Asian restaurant with wonderful views, a glass bar, and a casual café.  All of the attractions of Abu Dhabi's new commercial district are right out the front door.

Marriott Hotel Downtown

The five-star Marriott Hotel Downtown is one of the highest rated hotels in Abu Dhabi's downtown area.  This hotel features a number of rooms ranging from standard rooms to suites, all of which offer contemporary furnishings, flatscreen TVs, free WiFi, a minibar, and plush pillowtop bedding.  Marriott Hotel Downtown has a large outdoor pool, fitness centre, and day spa.  You'll find 24/7 dining options at the Marriott; restaurants include the popular JW Steakhouse, a café, and fun sports bar.  Marriott Hotel Downtown is within walking distance of the Al Wahda Mall, Al Nahyan Stadium, and just a little further to Abu Dhabi and Corniche beaches.

Heritage Village Beach

Heritage Village Beach is part of the Heritage Village on the Corniche breakwater.  This free attraction is full of living displays showing old-fashioned ways of living in the U.A.E., and it also has a rather large beach.  The beach is full of traditional wooden boats and thatch grass huts.  This isn't necessarily a beach that people go to just to go to the beach, but it is a serene, quiet beach to visit if you're already at the Heritage Village.  Heritage Village also has a small shop serving traditional Arabic food.

Bars and Restaurants

Kuzbara

Kuzbara is a fun international buffet in downtown Abu Dhabi.  The restaurant is located on the mezzanine level of the Marriot Downtown.  This casual eatery offers a contemporary selection of various foods throughout the day.  There are a number of different specials throughout the week, including an Arabic night on Wednesdays, BBQ & Beer on Thursdays, along with great lunch specials and other international selections to speak of.  The dining room is bright and cozy and the service is impeccable.  Kuzbara is open daily from 6:30AM to 11PM.  Reservations are accepted.

Rangoli At Yas Island

There are some wonderful restaurants on Yas Island, and if you're looking for Indian food check out Rangoli.  This stylish restaurant is located at the Yas Island Rotana hotel.  The modern décor features Indian influences, accentuated by the aromas coming from the Tandoor and show kitchen.  Reviewer favorites include the curries, butter chicken, lamb shank, and coconut prawns.  Rangoli is open daily from 6PM to midnight and also serves a Friday brunch from 12:30PM to 4PM.  Reservations are accepted.  If you're really hungry, visit on a Tuesday for their all you can eat buffet.

Villa Toscana

Villa Toscana is a wonderful Italian restaurant in the St. Regis Abu Dhabi on Corniche Road.  This award-winning restaurant specializes in cuisine from the Tuscany region, served in an elegant yet cozy dining room.  Menu items include fried calamari, lobster & prawn ravioli, eggplant parmesan, veal chops, beef tenderloin, and a great selection of desserts.  Villa Toscana also serves some amazing pizzas, also offered for take-out.  Pair your dinners with options from their generous wine menu.  Villa Toscana is open for lunch starting at noon, and is open for dinner every night from 7PM to 11PM.

Lebanon Mill & Cafeteria

You'll find cheap, flavorful, authentic Lebanese food at the Lebanon Mill & Cafeteria.  This casual eatery has a large selection of Middle Eastern food at amazing prices.  The portion sizes are impressive considering what you pay for them.  Lebanon Mill is mostly known for their falafel, served complimentary with all meals.  The hummus is equally outstanding.  Main dishes include a mixed grill, chicken soup, shish tawook, and grilled chicken.  Lebanon Mill is open daily from noon until midnight

Things to do in Abu Dhabi in June

Emirates Palace

The Emirates Palace is more than just a hotel, it's an exquisite example of Arabic architecture and lavish lifestyles found in the U.A.E.  The Emirates Palace is a relatively new hotel but is now one of the most iconic buildings in Abu Dhabi.  Even if you're not staying here you'll want to visit to tour the grounds.  Emirates Palace is surrounded by lush manicured gardens, fountains, and lagoon pools.  The interior is covered in marble and gold leaf.  Emirates Palace has numerous restaurants available to the general public, and you can find a restaurant to satisfy all tastes and budgets.  Enjoy afternoon tea or lounge in one of their trendy bars.  There is also some retail therapy available for those who need it.

Eastern Mangroves National Park

Rent a kayak and explore Eastern Mangroves National Park, one of the last remaining mangroves in the U.A.E.  This vast natural area contains a network of narrow channels, some of which are only accessible during high tide and in a kayak.  You'll see wildlife natural to many mangroves around the world, including herons, crabs, fish, and jellyfish.  You can rent a kayak and explore on your own, but a better option is to sign up for a guided tour.  The nature guides have a better eye for wildlife and will be able to explain the importance of the mangroves and the dangers they face.  If you happen to be in Abu Dhabi during a full moon, you should definitely sign up for a full moon kayak tour.

Yas Waterworld

If you're really starting to feel the summer heat, head over to Yas Waterworld to cool down.  This large water park on Yas Island is set on nearly 40 acres of land.  There are over 40 rides at Yas Waterworld, ranging from thrilling roller coasters to lazy rivers.  Yas Waterworld is also home to the longest suspended roller coaster in the Middle East.  The water park contains different areas featuring themed attractions, including fast-paced rides, adventure-themed attractions, and a children's area.  You can also stop for food and shopping while at Yas Waterworld. Yas Waterworld is open daily from 10AM to 6PM.

Louvre Abu Dhabi

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is one of Abu Dhabi's most recent attractions, opening its doors in 2017 under a special arrangement with the French government.  The museum is located in the Saadiyat Island cultural district and is over 24,000 square meters in size, making it the largest art museum on the Arabian peninsula.  The Louvre Abu Dhabi is stunning in appearance, made up of what looks like a modern glass oasis.  Inside you'll be able to view various art collections, watch informative shows, and visit their café and shop.  Rotating displays contain works from the masters like Van Gogh, Da Vinci, and Picasso.  The Louvre Abu Dhabi is open from 10AM to midnight.
