The climate of Makadi Bay in Egypt is characterised by hot, dry summers and mild winters. There is sunshine all year round and very little to no rainfall. It is saved from the typical desert climate by its proximity to the coast. It is an ideal holiday resort with high temperatures. It has mainly two seasons, summer and winter.
Summer
The summer months of April - October can see high temperatures of 32°C â" 34°C. The hottest months are July and August, although it can at times feel much hotter because of the sunshine and the desert climate. It is hot during this period though not humid, as there is no rainfall.
At night the temperature can drop by about 10°C. The night time temperature during this period will be between 18 and 21°C.
Also important while you enjoy the sun and all the sea has to offer, like scuba diving and snorkelling, is to keep the sun cream always at hand as the UV index is high at about 11. Have drinking water handy to lessen the risk of dehydration. The sea temperature during this period is about 26°C â" 28°C.
The sun shines for about 12 - 13 hours a day during the months of June, July and August so you benefit from the long days.
Winter
During the months of November to March, temperatures drop to lows of 21°C. The average temperature during this period is from 21°C â" 27°C. Night time temperatures can drop to 11C â" 16C, making it a bit chilly but still not cold enough as other places in the desert, where temperatures can drop to near freezing point. The sea temperature is still 21°C -23° C.
You could have a day of rainfall in December but the chances of this are negligible. Though this is the coast, it is still quite arid in nature. The sun shines for a lengthy 9 â" 10 hours a day so though it may not be peak travel season, if you decide to travel during this period, you will still be able to take advantage of the wonderful climate.
